What makes a good steak knife?

A good steak knife is defined by a razor-sharp blade, a precise grind and high-quality materials. Our steak knives from Solingen are hand-ground, perfectly balanced and cut effortlessly through juicy meat – without tearing or crushing it.

What makes steak knives from Solingen special?

Solingen stands worldwide for knife making at the highest level. Every steak knife is traditionally made, ground and inspected here – for maximum sharpness, durability and an unmistakable feel when cutting.

Does a steak knife need a serrated or a straight edge?

Both have their advantages: a serrated edge stays sharp longer and glides easily through a crusty sear. A straight edge, on the other hand, produces especially clean cuts and preserves the structure of the meat – perfect for true connoisseurs.

How do I care for my steak knife properly?

Best washed by hand, dried immediately and stored safely. A drop of blade oil now and then protects against corrosion. Wooden handles appreciate a little care oil – that keeps the knife looking good and lasting long.

Are the steak knives dishwasher safe?

The wooden handles definitely are not – heat and moisture can make them swell or crack. Steak knives with a POM or plastic handle are dishwasher safe in theory, but we always recommend washing by hand. That keeps the blade sharp longer, the handle looking good and the knife in the best shape overall – like on day one.
