Translated excerpt · Trompeter · 09.05.2025

Pros

What customers praise

  • Many positive comments on sharpness and cutting performance
  • Comfortable handling and attractive wooden handles
  • Also appreciated for breakfast, snacks and spreading
  • Positive feedback on workmanship and everyday usefulness

Cons & considerations

Reported criticism and limits of the evidence

  • One review would have liked better sharpness and edge retention
  • One customer reports slightly protruding rivets
  • One detailed review warns against sideways pressure on the finely ground cutting edge

Opinions on sharpness differ. The comment about sideways pressure comes from a customer review, rather than our own load testing.

Absolutely brilliant!

Headhunter ·

Almost perfect. Razor-sharp straight from the factory. I have the equivalent knife in non-stainless carbon steel from the same cutlery maker, with beechwood handle scales. The non-stainless one is EVEN SHARPER, but needs a little more attention and care. This one is absolutely excellent too, though, and currently my favourite snack knife. It slices through a bread roll with almost no crumbs, spreads butter and other toppings very well, cuts even the hardest air-dried Mettwurst, salami and Stracke sausage like warm butter, and slices tomatoes so thinly you could read a newspaper through them. In my view, the knife really has just one tiny drawback: because of the Solingen thin grind, the edge cannot withstand sideways pressure. So please never scrape the edge sideways across the chopping board or knock it against the rim of a butter dish. If you bear that in mind, however, you have a knife that will last a lifetime and stay super-sharp for a very long time. Anyone who follows my reviews knows that I always give my opinion honestly and as objectively as possible, focusing exclusively on the product, without letting any frustration with sellers, delivery companies or inadequate or damaged packaging influence the product review. I also update my reviews if my opinion of the product changes over time, whether for the worse or for the better! To make prices comparable, I will include the price at the time of purchase in future.

Absolut top!

Fast perfekt.
