The broad skinning knife from F. HERDER is available in 15.5 and 18 cm. The blade is noticeably broader than on the slim butchering knives and strongly swept upwards.
This design is tailored to pulling off the hide: the far-reaching blade belly delivers a long cutting stroke with every pull, so large surfaces are released in few movements.
The point is drawn upwards and turns away from the hide when working flat. Punctures that would devalue the pelt can be avoided this way – the work is done by drawing, not by stabbing.
The broad blade also brings weight into the cut. The green plastic handle is insensitive to moisture and easy to clean.
The blade carries the engraving Friedr. Herder Abr. Sohn, the marking SOLINGEN GERMANY STAINLESS, the spade symbol with the lettering PIKAS as well as the series lettering Don Carlos. Made by F. HERDER in the tradition-rich knife city of Solingen. Made in Germany, with the standard of quality that has distinguished the brand since 1727.
